Bihar – the heart and talent hub of Hindustan & Hinduism also, the birthplace of Buddhism, Jainism and the tenth guru of Sikhs is again preparing itself for a new identity.
Bihar spread over an area of 94,164 sq. Km is the twelfth largest state in India. The capital city of Bihar, Patna is blessed with a rich historical past.
In Bihar there are 9 division, 38 District, 101 Sub-divisions, 534 Blocks and 8,463 Panchayat.
There are 14 languages in Bihar, Angika (No. of speaker 30,000,000), Bajjika (No. of speaker 11,800,000), Bhojpuri (No. of speaker 23,384,562), Fiji Hindi, Kudmali, Magahi, Maithili, Majhi, Musasa, Panchpargania, Sadri, Sadri Oraon, Sarnami Hindustani and Surajpuri.
Total Number of colleges and Institutes in Bihar: Universities-12, Medical Colleges-23, Teacher Training Colleges-15, Engineering College-7, Art & Science Colleges-743, Other-63.
The “Global Meet for Resurgent Bihar”, organized during 19-21 January 2007 was an effort to bring together on one platform, leaders of industry and trade, policy makers, scholars social activists etc. to identify strategies, explore opportunity and partnership for playing effective roles towards the development of the state.
Over 700 delegates with about 400 of them from outside Bihar attended the Meet with significant representation from the Indian Diaspora across the globe.
The eminent figures who attended the Meet included Dr. C. Rangarajan, Chairman, Economic Advisory Council of the Prime Minister, representatives from the World Bank, UNICEF, DFID, ILO, the American Consulate Officials etc.
During interactions they suggested several administrative and policy reforms for image & brand building of Bihar. They also recommended strategic interventions in Agriculture & Allied Sectors, Agro-based industries, Tourism, Education, Power, Infrastructure and Health sectors.
